Karissa Bowden

INSTRUCTOR

Karissa began her dance training at Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet (RWB) at the age of six, enjoying several years within their Recreational division, she was later accepted into the Professional Division at the age of 12. At the RWB she had the opportunity to train in both the Cecchetti and Vaganova methods of ballet, and she also successfully completed numerous Ballet, Modern and Character exams. While at the RWB Karissa had the opportunity to perform in the Nutcracker, Spotlight and First Steps.

In 2015, Karissa joined the Kickit family and was introduced to the competitive dance world. Since joining Kickit, Karissa has participated in several dance competitions, where she has received recognition through scholarships, awards, and overalls. Karissa has trained in various disciplines including Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Lyrical, Acro, Modern, Contemporary, Character and Bollywood. She has attended numerous summer dance intensives, furthering her exposure to different dance styles. Karissa enjoys working with children and she was pleased to join the Kickit staff in 2017.

Aside from dance, Karissa earned a Bachelor of Kinesiology in spring 2024 and is now pursuing a Master of Physical Therapy at the University of Manitoba. She is looking forward to an amazing year of dance, working alongside the fantastic staff and getting to know her students and helping them grow as dancers!
